VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

Chain Gang Volunteer 

Responsible for managing the down markers and chains on the sidelines during games. This role works closely with referees to help indicate down and distance, ensuring accurate and timely updates. Volunteers should be attentive, able to follow the flow of the game, and comfortable standing for extended periods.

 

Minimum Play Monitor 

You will either be on the home or away sidelines along with a parent from the opposing team.  You will be responsible for keeping a record of minimum plays for the opposing team or calling out/assisting the other parent in keeping the records.  A clipboard and completed player roster will be provided to you.  For each play, one parent will have the list and the other parent will call off the jersey numbers of the players that are on the field.  The parent with the list will check off each time that each player is on the field.  After all players have completed their minimum plays, you will sign off and turn in paperwork to the head coach of that team, and your assignment is done.  You must leave the field upon completion.

 

Announcer (Experience Required)

Serve as the voice of the game by providing play-by-play updates, player introductions, sponsor shoutouts, and general game day information over the PA system. Keep the crowd engaged and informed while maintaining a positive and family-friendly tone. Perfect for confident speakers who enjoy being in the spotlight.

 

Spotter (Must have football Knowledge)

Assist the announcer and coaching staff by quickly identifying players involved in each play. The spotter helps track jersey numbers, player positions, and key game actions (tackles, passes, touchdowns) to ensure accurate and timely announcements. This role requires focus, quick observation skills, and a good understanding of the game of football.

 

Clock Operator (Experience Required)

Operate the game clock and scoreboard during games, ensuring accurate timekeeping for quarters, timeouts, and play resets. Work closely with referees and announcers to follow official signals and maintain game flow. This role is ideal for someone who is attentive, detail-oriented, and familiar with football timing rules (training can be provided).

 

Scoreboard Operator (Experience Required)                                                                                                                                       Manage the scoreboard during games, updating the score, down, distance, and quarter in real-time. Work closely with referees and the clock operator to ensure accurate and timely updates. This role requires focus, quick reaction, and basic knowledge of football—training can be provided.

 

Game Day Filmer (Each Game & Team)        

Record games and practices to capture key plays and moments for coaches, players, and families. Help provide valuable footage for player development, game review, and team promotion. Ideal for someone familiar with camera equipment who can focus on action and maintain steady shots throughout the event. Please talk to each team coach for more information.

 

Game Day Set Up

Help prepare the field and facilities before games by setting up field equipment, tables, chairs, pop ups, signage and any necessary supplies. Assist with organizing team areas and ensuring everything is ready for players, coaches, and spectators. This role is great for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and being part of the game day team.

 

Snack Shack Set Up

Prepare the snack shack or concession area before games by organizing supplies, setting up food and beverage stations, and ensuring everything is clean and ready to serve. Help create a welcoming environment for families and supporters. Ideal for volunteers who enjoy working with people and have good organizational skills.

 

Snack Shack

Assist with running the snack shack during games and events by selling snacks and beverages, handling cash or electronic payments, restocking supplies, and keeping the area clean and organized. This role helps support the team while providing a friendly service to players, families, and fans.

 

BBQ

BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs and any other meat provided.

 

Entry Gate

Manage entry point during games by collecting electronic forms of entrance fees, checking badges, re-entry stamps, greeting attendees, and directing spectators to appropriate areas. Help ensure a safe and organized flow of people while providing a friendly welcome to families and fans. Ideal for volunteers who are approachable and enjoy interacting with the community.

 

Track Entrance Gate Monitor

Monitor entrances to the field and ensures that ONLY badged volunteers and athletes currently playing are allowed thru the gates.  Unathorized adults or children will be asked to leave the field.  The team risks forfeit for failure to comply with this policy per EBYFC league guidelines.

 

Spirit Wear

Coordinate the sale and distribution of team apparel and merchandise during games and events. Assist families with purchases, manage inventory, and help promote team spirit through branded gear. Great for volunteers who are organized, friendly, and enthusiastic about supporting the team.

 

Game Day Support

Provide general assistance during game days, including helping with setup and teardown, directing teams and spectators, assisting coaches and officials, and supporting various game day operations. Ideal for flexible volunteers ready to pitch in wherever needed to keep the day running smoothly.

 

Game Day Clean Up

Helps with end of day clean up, table break down, canopy break down, field equipment breakdown, picking up trash, putting away items in the shed and misc clean up TBD!

 

Football Team Parent Role Description
As a Football Team Parent, you’ll support coaches and help keep the team organized. Duties include sending messages from the Head Coach (using team apps), distributing and collecting fundraising materials, assist Head Coach with uniform/equipment distribution, coordinating end-of-season coach gifts, and helping fill open volunteer shifts on game days. Additional tasks may be assigned with Board approval.  MUST BE APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE BOARD

 

Cheer Team Parent Role Description
As a Cheer Team Parent, you’ll assist coaches and help with team needs. You’ll send messages from the Head Coach (using team apps), distribute fundraising materials, prep game day goody bags, make football team banners, organize end-of-season coach gifts, and help fill game day volunteer shifts. Additional duties may be assigned with Board approval.  MUST BE APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE BOARD
